Bobby
Lee, who inherited his dad’s
flair for fun and the
unusual, coined the word
“eatertainment” to describe
the Big Texan’s approach to
providing guests with a
memorable experience.
“We
combine great food and
family fun into one
package,” Bobby explains.
“There’s something at the
Big Texan to entertain and
excite every member of the
family.”
Walking
into the Big Texan is a
feast for the senses. The
lobby is filled with lights,
sound and laughter. A
Magician mesmerizes the
folks crowding around his
display. A group of strolling
musicians has a table of
visitors stomping their feet
and clapping their hands
in-time to a rollicking
rendition of a country
standard. Members of a tour
group gather around the
Giant Rocking Chair to take
photos, while others test
their marksmanship at the
shooting gallery.
The
Big Texan OPRY is an
award-winning show that has
been entertaining guests
from all over the world
since 1993. The show plays
every Tuesday night from June - August.
Performers take the stage in
the main dining room of the
Big Texan at 7:15 throughout
most of the year. From June
through August, though, they
move out to the relaxed
setting of the Cowboy
Palace. No matter the time
of year, visitors are
treated to great
performances that feature
singing, dancing, comedy and
plenty of opportunities to
participate.
There
was a time when gambling was
considered to be an outlaw’s
trade, but the Big Texan has
turned it into another
opportunity for fun.
There’s no real gamble
involved in our weekly
sessions of “Texas Hold’em,”
because it doesn’t cost you
anything to play. Come in
early on Wednesdays for a free
lesson, then join a table
and go “all in” for a great
time. On Wednesdays, signup starts at 6pm and play begins at 7 pm. Winners at the weekly sessions pick up some cash
or prizes and qualify for a
seat at the finals
tournament, where the prizes
are even better. Win or
lose – Texas Hold’em at the
Big Texan offers its own
rewards.
Remember
when a dance was a big deal
for the whole family? It
still is at the Big Texan
Steak Ranch.
Summer-time
Friday and Saturday nights
in the Big Texan’s Cowboy
Palace create an enchanting
atmosphere that lends itself
to lifetime memories. The
Palace feels like an outdoor
pavilion, in an enclosed
setting. Dinner service
from the regular menu begins
at 6 pm. The Band takes the
stage shortly after 7 pm and
the festivities begin in
earnest.
Family
members of all ages swing
around the dance floor in
time to the music.
Little
girls dance on the toes of
their fathers and
grandfathers. Young men
dance with their
sweethearts. Mothers –
young and old -- enjoy the
music, the dancing and the
smoke-free family
atmosphere.
The
romance of days gone by is
still alive and well in the
Big Texan Cowboy Palace on
summer weekends.
